Hello. how are you my favorite family
Well what an exciting week its been for you all! the first grand baby. man she is going to be spoiled. grandmas favorite girl. wink jk mom your still my mom and i still love you like a mom. and congratulations Courtney. glad the whole ordeal went great. its kind of funny because a lady in our ward had a baby on the 22nd as well. but they had us over for dinner a week earlier and i said maybe my sister and you will have the baby the same day. there last names are the packs and they are going to name there kid Jet. (so jet pack. get it?)
so sorry i want able to email you all yesterday. because it snowed pretty hard yesterday and we weren't allowed to go outside. it wasn't that bad but because no one knows how to drive in this crazy weather they didn't want us out.
so here are some of the highlights that happened this week. Tuesday we taught this lady the word of wisdom and committed her to quite smoking. she has been smoking for over 45 years. but not that big of surprise everybody smokes here. i pray that she will want to throw up every time she puts a Sig in her mouth. but we gave her the stop smoking workshop. it helps you quite in seven days. but only if you do all of the steps 100%.
Wednesday it was supposed to be zone conference. so we stayed the night in Lawton so we didn't have to get up so early to make it there on time. but when we woke up in the morning it was raining super hard. and the wind was blowing at 65mph. so we decided to get a head start. because i didn't want to be in a rush. (not the band) and about 31/57 of the way there the zone leaders called and asked if we had left yet. we told them yes and they said to turn around because zone conference was canceled because of the weather. so we were looking for an exit and we just kept driving and driving and driving and nothing. there wasn't a exit to turn around on for the stretch of 45 miles. we drove all the way to chickasha before there was an exit. so in total we drive 130 miles just to turn around. after that the zone got together and we ate breakfast at Jimmy's egg. then we dropped off the other elders and drove back to altus. it was the biggest waist of time. because then we didn't have any plans for that day. no appointments to go to and no people to see. so it was just an uneventful day after that.
on Thursday we saw this lady. and she was so excited to see us that she was jumping up and down. but we talked with her before, and she said that she told her husband about us and they really want to meet with us. so that's exciting.
Friday we really had zone conference. it was really good. we had a training on gaining trust of members and non members. and it was spectacular. president Taylor gave the training and he had a visual aid. were you have two glasses one with water and you have one that's empty. he said that trust can be lost and he pored some water in the empty one . and then he said its really hard to get it back. so don't loose that trust. than we had a training on thoughts on how they make up our whole being. because thoughts make up our desires and desires make up our actions and our actions make up our character and our character makes us who we are and who we are ether leads us to Christ or Satan. depending on the thoughts we have. it was kind of awkward at first because we talked about sex. (gross) and how its a good thing but not yet. then we had the long drive home. the Lawton elders gave me the weight bench in there apartment. so now i can stop doing push ups. me and elder Burnett do prayer push ups. each time you pray you do 10 push ups, and than next week you do 15, than 20 and 25 and so forth. but elder Burnett is getting sick of it so now were benching.
the work out program we have been doing is helping alot. elder Burnett has lost about ten ponds. and he can almost do a pull up.
Saturday we saw this less active member in the ward. we see him every week. but we shared a lesson with him and he told me that if i come back to Oklahoma he will take me to six flags down in Dallas. he is a funny old man, i don't quite know what to think about him.
but yea i guess this week has been good. not a whole lot to report on.
i don't know if the mission is splitting yet. probably not for a while. maybe a year. our new mission president comes in like a month. his name is President Walkinghorse. I'm told he is about 7 feet tall. talk about intimidating. my next transfer is next Wednesday. i don't know if i will leave or stay. and i think i will be released July 11. i think that's the day i come home. but im not 100%
well that's it for this week i love you all so much and i will talk at you latter.

Subject: its a big day do do so here's a big 57
HI family
happy birthday mom! i love you.your the best mother ever!
ok ok i see. now that we have that established. how are you guys. im glad you got the package. those boogers are expensive. but worth it. Lauren I'm glad you liked the bracelet. i don't know if i mentioned this but if you look it has heart shapes all through out it.
so yea this week has been good. i guess we will start out with the beginning.
Monday well we don't have alot to do. we cant play board games any more so instead we made up our own. elder burnett played Dungeons and Dragons back home. its like a roll playing game that's suuuuuuuuuuuper nerdy. but all you need to play that is a dice and a piece of paper and pencil. so we kind of did that all day. boring. we need to get a Frisbee or something. o and there is a lady that does our laundry every week. she is really nice dont get me wrong but. when we went to pick up our laundry she was like elder Burnett you need to drink more fluids. and he is like why do you say that? so she pointed out the stains on his G's and said this only happens when your dehydrated. (umm AWKWARD)
So Tuesday, we had a great day planed lots of lessons and a bunch of people we were going to visit. but then all of a sudden the AP's text us and said the whole mission is grounded so no going outside, no walking, biking, driving or excepting rides. it was super lame. our mission has gotten super safety cautions. (and you can see why) so when we had a chance of snow the whole mission shuts down. so we were stuck in side all day. it was like two pdays in a row. but a second more boring one.
Wednesday. we saw a couple of people mostly trying people. we made a huge list of people to see. and now were making our way down the list. one man we ran into is named Juan. he is about 65 years old. in a wheel chair, and catholic. (there easy to convert) so he said that missionaries have come by in the past but they were really pushy about him getting baptized as soon as possible and he didn't like that so now three months latter were back (in black) he had a daughter die so we taught him the plan of salvation. and told him about the Resurrection. i have never been more sincere in my life as when i testified of the truthfulness of the resurrection. im so glad that i have the opportunity to share this Gospel. im so great full for the knowledge i have of the plan of salvation. and grateful that i know that Jesus died for me... and for us all. because alot of people dont know that. or they have been told, but if they really believe that. this opportunity is a once in a lifetime experience. and its the best decision i have ever made.
Thursday. so we keep working with that list. and we marked on the map a route that would be the fastest. but in our hurry to get out the door. i forgot the list. had the map and everything else. but when we got to this first street. i took out the list to check the address and No LIST (suck a duck!) so we were stuck with a decision to make. go back and get the list or knock some doors. i was sick of biking so we knocked some doors.
first door nothing, second nothing, and the third door guess what happened? nothing. so i was kind of getting discouraged but about a block down. past the 1967 Corvette stingray t-top, red with dual exhaust. (hey im trying to fight off the natural man) we knocked on the door of a yellow house. this lady anwsered and was like Elders! come on in. i didnt know if this was a member or a less active or what. so we went in and it was a man and his wife they told us to sit down. and got us some kool aid. they introduced themselves and said were not member were still in the conversion process. our whole family is members and live in Utah. and we just love Mormonism they both have quads. and book by apostles. they want us to come back and teach them any time. its like almost to good to be true. Golden Investigator anyone? really good faith booster. the lord knows what's what. if i would have had the list we never would have found them. so even though we might not see is the lord has a plan for each and every one of us.
were also teaching this guy. i told you about him last week. but we met with him at the church and taught him the restoration. the lesson went great. but we found out he is all about the facts. he cant prove there is no God. so he believes in him. he cant prove that Jesus doesn't exist so he could be our Savior. its crazy. he is doing this for the right reasons. but its going to be hard pushing through this. we told him to pray, pray hard. and that's how he is going to get his answer.
and not a lot happened Friday or Saturday. finding people teaching the same people a lot.
Sunday. we had stake conference. but instead of it being a regular get together. it was broadcast from salt lake. Henry B Iring spoke as well as a seventy. it was super cool and super intense. no one was expecting it. we just all showed up and they had a tv hooked up and said this is going to be a little different. it was broadcasted to Texas, Oklahoma, and new Mexico. most of the talks were about respecting women, your wives and your moms and stuff. really good. and alot about porn. elder Burnett made the comment if we didn't look at porn think of all the cool doctrine we could learn. but i got alot of insight.
then that night we had sacrament meeting in Hobart. at an old folks home. it was crazy. but good you know how old people are. there is this one lady that keeps saying my daddy was a preacher! for 45 years. but it was great.
sorry about Monday the library was closed so i didn't get to email.
Well i guess that's it for this week. Good luck Courtney Your the best big sister ever.
Love you mom, dad, Lauren, Courtney, family of the extended edition, friends of the best kind and any one else not mention in this list.

Now he driving
hello hello. family
this week has been good. nothing to crazy going on but i guess that's a good thing. (i think) its all ways a good week when the ward feeds you. in this area the ward will feed us everyday for a week straight then there will be a week when know one will sign up. its crazy. but i looked at the dinner calendar for last year and the ward hasn't feed the missionaries like this in at least 10 months. so i think that means they like us as a companionship.
me and elder Burnett are getting along great. we have alot in common but at the same time we are complete opposites. he is super... um... nerdy? but he is cool. the other day we talked about what would be the best weapon to fight a dragon. but at least we get along better than my last comp.
so here are some things that happened this week. Monday we did the normal stuff shopping, email, write letters. its was kind of boring because we have nothing to do. then that night i got to practice my Spanish again with a lesson we taught to a less active lady. i wasn't good when i practiced everyday but now i cant understand anything. i mostly just shook my head and said Si. thank goodness we had a member there that spoke Spanish otherwise i would have been toast.
then that night our district leader called us up and asked if we wanted to stay up in Lawton so we didn't have to drive quite so far for the memorial service the next day. so we drove an hour and stayed the night. the other elders are super crazy. they had a air mattresses for us but i had a terrible night sleep. i don't know what the deal is with air mattresses going flat in the night but they all ways do. so we got ready and left. it was super foggy that morning and elder Burnett was scared to drive. but i helped him stay calm and keep up alive.
the memorial was so great. sister Taylor was balling her eyes out for the first half of the meeting. it turned from really sad at first to really happy. alot of old missionary's that have gone home all ready came back for it. some of her former comps and district members. they told us the whole story about what happened step by step and that it wasn't anything that the sisters did wrong and it was a complete accident. and that they were doing what they were supposed to be doing. they went even at the wrong place at the wrong time. but the mom of the boy that hit sister smith was there. and she gave her apology's and her gratitude for how nice the church has been. and of what i understand she is being taught the missionary lessons. then at the last there was an opportunity for anyone that wanted to get up and speak and tell stories about sister smith. some were really good and spiritual and it makes me sad that i didn't meet her. but other people got up just to get up and speak because they could. then at the very last her comp that was with her at the time of the accident, got up and said a few words. it brought the whole house to tears. and then there was a special musical number. and some missionary's and president Taylor's son got up and sang and played "savior redeemer of my soul" the same version on 17 miracles. o wow it was so powerful the spirit was just flowing through our hearts. its hard to comprehend the feelings that were there. then after that we all signed her uke that they left behind to send to her family.
after the service we had the three hour drive back to altus. but the district leader surprised us, he told us that he was driving us back. because he didn't trust Burnett to drive us five back. needless to say elder Burnett wasn't to happy.
Wednesday we got a call from president Taylor and he was asking me about elder Burnett and about his driving. and about his almost accident about a week ago. i told him the truth and that i wasn't worried about him driving. but president Taylor told me that he was worried about him driving and that he wanted me to drive form now on. i asked about my red dot and that im not supposed to drive but he said im unreddoting you and i think that the whole not driving think was a miss understanding. (which it was i think) so needless to say im happy because i get to drive again. and not just be a copilot. but elder Burnett is super pissed. not at me and not at president but at a certain district member who likes to slander other missionary's. so this particular missionary called the mission president and told him that he doesn't want to drive with elder Burnett anymore. so now im driving.
but anyway we have found a ton of new investigators this week. the Lord is really providing for this area. one man that were teaching just fell into our lap he is a part member family and his wife and kids are in DC. he is just here for a couple of months for training at the air force base. but we started meeting with him. he told us that he has come to church for about five years. but never joined back home he had a calling as a scout leader. so by definition he is a dry Mormon. but were helping him out and trying to let the spirit convert him.
there is a bunch of other people that were teaching but that one is the one im banking on.
but i guess that's it for this week
i got your letter mom. and wow it was good. i got grandmas letter. thanks grandma.
hey dad i know were i got my spending habits from. wink. (but its on sale i have to get it)
Lauren i love you don't worry about not writing me long letters. any letter is better than no letter. and dont worry about the dance im sure that every boy thinks you all ready have a date so there scared to ask you out. because a girl as pretty as you would for sure all ready be asked.
but i love you all so very much and i will talk at ya ladder

Pray for Sister Smiths Family
Here is a link of the story about the sister missionary that was killed. The Mission President said she was just coming home from a appointment and she was doing what she was suppose to be doing and had only been in the area about 2 days. The kid that hit her was only 18 and we should pray for him and his family as well. Sad day :(
http://fox13now.com/2013/02/03/lds-missionary-killed-while-biking/
hello family.
as im sure you heard a sister missionary died last week. i didnt really get to know her but i knew of her and she taught me how to play "i need thee every hour" on the uke. wow this is so crazy. and so unforeseeable. she was a great missionary and worked hard. the worst part is that her comp has only been out for about 3 days. and to experience that at the first of her mission is terrible. i thought i had a rough start. but i guess she was needed on the other side. president taylor said if you have any questions that you can call them.
well its hard writing about the good news that happened this week when there was such a downer to begin with.
but here it goes.
on Monday we made para-cord belts because we have nothing else to do. it was fun there really cool. then the rest of the night and the rest of the week we spent packing elder shumways stuff and saying goodbye to as many members as he could. there is a lot of cool people in this ward. and they care about us so much.
on Wednesday i got elder burnett. so we saved up all month to go to transfers (which is about 300 miles) and than they told us that they didn't even need our truck to go. it was dumb because we could have used those miles else where. and they don't roll over. but whatever.
so we went up to lawton to go and pick him up and also to have district lunch. we ate a place called Atlanta bread. its kind of like kneaders but not as good. or as big. one of the sisters is training in our zone so we got to meet her greeny.
ok here is a semi funny story about her. so the zone leaders saw a picture of all the new missionarys coming out this transfer. and one of them was sister freeman. now mind you sister freeman doesnt look like a sister missionary (if you know what i mean) she is the most beautiful sister missionary i have ever seen. so the zone leaders took a picture of her picture and was showing it off to the other elders. than we found out that sister carlini is geting to train her. so the other elders in my district we excited (those fetchers) well she showed up and she is just as good as her picture. but then she started talking to us and she has got this crazy southern accent and everybody was like WOW that was unexpected. it was kind of like that movie singing in the rain. were the lady was a silent actress and then sound came in, and she had a crazy voice. im not trying to be mean or anything but it was just unexpected.
so after that we were driving back to altus and about halfway there the bike rack broke and elder burnetts bike goes flying off the truck! elder burnett was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! and slammed on the breaks. i jumped out of the truck and ran back the two hundred yards to go get the bike. it was all jacked up bent wheels and the forks were bend and his seat got some bad road rash. we threw it in the back of the truck and went back to altus. elder burnett was like this is the worst day of my life. poor kid.
so on Friday we had to take it up to lawton to the bike shop. the guy that owns the shop is a member so he fixed it for free. what a swell guy. so everything is good with that now.
elder burnett wants to lose weight and asked for my help so we are working out twice a day and i threw out all of the junk food in our apartment and we bought some healthy granola bars. i don't know if its just my missionary nature but i all ways want to help people change for the better.
another thing about elder burnett. he is the complete opposite of elder shumway when it comes to driving. i was praying that my next comp would be a slower driver and more defensive instead of offensive. because shumway was nuts. by far the scariest driver i have ever been with. shoot the gap every time. California stops and running red lights. elder burnett on the other had is super slow, the light turns yellow and he stops. wait for a big gap to pull out. its funny but i like it.
so thats what happened this week.
my finger is doing better. it still hurts when you bump it but thats to be expected. i think it might heal a little crooked. but whatever. the doctor proscribed me with some pain meds. but i don't need them so i didn't buy them.
but yea i guess that's it for this week keep me in your prayers as well as the smith family (sister missionary's family)
i love you all so much keep up the faith and on the strait and narrow path.

hello family.
as im sure you heard a sister missionary died last week. i didnt really get to know her but i knew of her and she taught me how to play "i need thee every hour" on the uke. wow this is so crazy. and so unforeseeable. she was a great missionary and worked hard. the worst part is that her comp has only been out for about 3 days. and to experience that at the first of her mission is terrible. i thought i had a rough start. but i guess she was needed on the other side. president taylor said if you have any questions that you can call them.
well its hard writing about the good news that happened this week when there was such a downer to begin with.
but here it goes.
on Monday we made para-cord belts because we have nothing else to do. it was fun there really cool. then the rest of the night and the rest of the week we spent packing elder shumways stuff and saying goodbye to as many members as he could. there is a lot of cool people in this ward. and they care about us so much.
on Wednesday i got elder burnett. so we saved up all month to go to transfers (which is about 300 miles) and than they told us that they didn't even need our truck to go. it was dumb because we could have used those miles else where. and they don't roll over. but whatever.
so we went up to lawton to go and pick him up and also to have district lunch. we ate a place called Atlanta bread. its kind of like kneaders but not as good. or as big. one of the sisters is training in our zone so we got to meet her greeny.
ok here is a semi funny story about her. so the zone leaders saw a picture of all the new missionarys coming out this transfer. and one of them was sister freeman. now mind you sister freeman doesnt look like a sister missionary (if you know what i mean) she is the most beautiful sister missionary i have ever seen. so the zone leaders took a picture of her picture and was showing it off to the other elders. than we found out that sister carlini is geting to train her. so the other elders in my district we excited (those fetchers) well she showed up and she is just as good as her picture. but then she started talking to us and she has got this crazy southern accent and everybody was like WOW that was unexpected. it was kind of like that movie singing in the rain. were the lady was a silent actress and then sound came in, and she had a crazy voice. im not trying to be mean or anything but it was just unexpected.
so after that we were driving back to altus and about halfway there the bike rack broke and elder burnetts bike goes flying off the truck! elder burnett was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! and slammed on the breaks. i jumped out of the truck and ran back the two hundred yards to go get the bike. it was all jacked up bent wheels and the forks were bend and his seat got some bad road rash. we threw it in the back of the truck and went back to altus. elder burnett was like this is the worst day of my life. poor kid.
so on Friday we had to take it up to lawton to the bike shop. the guy that owns the shop is a member so he fixed it for free. what a swell guy. so everything is good with that now.
elder burnett wants to lose weight and asked for my help so we are working out twice a day and i threw out all of the junk food in our apartment and we bought some healthy granola bars. i don't know if its just my missionary nature but i all ways want to help people change for the better.
another thing about elder burnett. he is the complete opposite of elder shumway when it comes to driving. i was praying that my next comp would be a slower driver and more defensive instead of offensive. because shumway was nuts. by far the scariest driver i have ever been with. shoot the gap every time.
Love Elder Clements
